It is the quiet pattern behind most modern software. A product launches genuinely good, earns your trust, and gets you to depend on it — and then, once leaving would hurt, it begins to turn against you. The features you relied on drift behind pricier tiers. Prices creep. Ads and upsells appear. Your data quietly becomes the real product being sold.
None of that is an accident or bad luck. Once a customer is locked in, making the product a little worse reliably makes a little more money. That is the whole model. We think it is a broken deal — and we refuse to build our business on it.
